March 4th, 2022 has finally arrived. On my to do list is to be happy, be kind, look at the details, appreciate the day. The Commission has decided that today is Hug A GI Day, Marching Music Day, National Dance the Waltz Day, National Pound Cake Day, Friday Fish Fry Day, and National Sons Day. Now let’s see what happened on 03/04. On this day in 1789 the 1st US Congress met and declared the Constitution to be in effect. On this day in 1792 oranges were introduced to Hawaii. On this day in 1902 the American Automobile Association (AAA) was founded in Chicago. In 1918 on this date, the Spanish flu began at an Army camp in Kansas starting a worldwide pandemic killing 50 to 100 million people. On this day in 1933 FDR was inaugurated as the 32nd President and pledged to pull the country out of the Great Depression. Now to the cemetery. Nikolai Gogol who passed in 1852 at the age of 42. He was a short story writer from the Ukraine. He said, “You can’t imagine how stupid the whole world has grown nowadays.” I wonder what he would say about today. The last stop is William Carlos Williams who was a poet, writer and physician who lived until this day in 1963. William said, “The only way to be truly happy is to make others happy. When you realize that and take advantage of the fact, everything is made perfect.” That sounds like a plan. Abide
